 >>A quagmire is when you get your truck stuck in the middle of a muddy orchard, too far from a decent road to get winched out.<<  That's a very literal and deliberate application of the word quagmire - a soft area, marsh, or bog, in which one's feet sinks, gets stuck.
I reviewed several dictionaries, and all included a second definition/usage, especially when taken in context such as the original quote:

A quagmire is a difficult, complicated, or unpleasant situation which is not easy to avoid or escape from. A situation from which extrication is difficult.

Other synonyms from a long list included:  stuck in, difficult, morass, precarious, predicament, dilemma, log jam, quandary, impasse - to name a few.
