The original definition of CCD, and the one that has to remain until  
someone can find the definitive cause (at which time, presence of the causal  
agent becomes the defining factor) was developed by the CCD Working group  and 
is still accessible on the MAAREC page.
 
Those signs were based on what the Working group observed in the fall of  
2006, early winter of 2007 - before anyone was able to follow CCD through a  
summer.
 
My own team described what we've seen in CCD operations, over geographical  
areas and on a seasonal cycle - and after four years, we still think these 
are  distinctive signs.  We published this in Bee Culture - perhaps Kim can 
make  the article available to those who don't get Bee Culture.
