You  might even use four or five different  colors so that you could detect  
recruitment of different bees from your  observation hive.  Have two  people 
doing the observations, one at  the observation hive and one at  the target 
"nectar" source. 


It might be interesting to feed the obs hive with a syrup flavoured with an  
essential oil and then have a source of the same scent but without  syrup say 
half a mile away and see what happens at each end.  Or  rather than essential 
oil how about a touch of your favourite lady's  perfume!
