> 99% target reduction is outstanding by RNAi standards, but for pathogens such as viruses and bacteria this merely reduces the virus load from 'billions' to 'millions' of particles per bee; enough to prevent symptoms but certainly not a complete 'cure'. RNAi
should therefore be seen as a welcome tool to help a colony overcome a momentary excess of pathogen pressure, rather than for permanent virus eradication. Ultimately the viruses will still survive, as they have always done.
