> Pete - I don't get it, on two levels. The prophylactic use of antibiotics in mammals and birds to stimulate growth is attractive to farmers because the animal is the product. Are some thinking it will produce a bigger bee, thus more honey? Or that it could lengthen the life of a worker bee? Any studies?

I was directly asked my opinion about this, and if there were studies supporting the role of Antibiotics as growth promoters. I supplied several references, there are many thousands. And my opinion that beekeepers use these products without knowing how they work, nor the ultimate consequences.

Charles responds in part:
> Nonsense Pete. Complete disparagement of what you don’t understand. Last week is was bashing the EPA leaders for doing what they were elected to do. This week bashing people who are doing the best they can? Come on Pete, lets leave the side comments for facebook.

All I will say is thanks to Dr. Morgan Dawkins, Chris Cripps, Meghan Milbrath & al -- for trying to raise the level of understanding.
