My apologies to the list for not pasting in a link. This should
take you straight to it:

In answer to the question about what I was searching for, it
was for a "hive monitor", a product put out by Dalen products
in the late 1970's, from what little information I have been
able to gather. It is a scale that can be left on a hive
year round. They no longer manufacture it, and the patent has
long since expired, I just haven't been able to find it yet.

Given the price tag of wiring a single hive for weight, temperature,
humidity and sound frequency, I have been designing my own
set of scales to leave on my hives, as well as an apiadicator to
be able to plug in to check for sound levels, thermometer and hygrometer
to follow.
