It's not either/or. You need both. 

>Nicely said.. and allegory often is what motivates a lot of science... and especially science related to beekeeping.  Recently in discussion with the state bee inspector here in Texas I told her that often times I have found long experience beekeeper often have a pretty good hunch about what is impacting their bees.  However most do not have either the skill set or the tool to turn that hunch into hard data and therefore a solid analysis.

>It is good to be able to discriminate the hunch from the hard core data driven analysis.
