I'm also interested in this question.  I have the same arrangement and I
also have pallets with hives facing in all four directions.  I'm curious
about the weight distribution for pallets as I've noticed that the colonies
that most in the flight path tend to be heavier; perhaps due to more
foragers accumulated from drifting.  I have not noticed any pattern of
weight distribution for the "5 in a row" arrangement.
