More than I wanted to know about colon inoculation, Dean!

Not sure what you are talking about--has anyone promoted nonendogenous
probiotic bacteria for bees?

Re breeding for varroa resistance, it's pretty clear that all populations of
bees that demonstrate natural resistance to varroa have the trait of VSH,
along with some combination of others.  I can't see any reason why you would
reject a trait that Nature selects for.
