psychological: the beekeeper *thinks* he's helped the hives.

As usual all things in beekeeping are regional.  An unwrapped hive in my 
area tends to be a dead hive and that wrapped hive should have some form 
of wind break; shelter belt, cut bank, etc.  Have tried just plastic or 
tar paper and given last rights in the spring.  Perhaps I should have 
used the prayer cloth.  Maybe it is our usual lack of insulating snow cover.
