Yes, Bill T, you are right.

When big guys split to sell nucs to newbees, they are setting them up for failure because they are passing their old queen on to the new beekeeper (or trusting sideliner, or continuing hobbyist), providing NO BROOD BREAK.  The recipients think they are at ground zero, when really, YOU are.


I have heard a number of complaints on this point.

Why not be "up front" about this, and confine the old nuc queens in the nucs you sell?  Tell your purchasers to release her later.  Then both you, and your newbees, who are paying top dollar for your nucs,? will benefit.
