I have been told by a wax worm breeder (for fish bait) That he uses
cornmeal or some other type of protein base if I remember right and
beeswax grated and mixed in. I was told that he actually did not have to
have beeswax but the wax worms seem to do better on it. A substitute in
this case for beeswax was glycerin. That did not make any sense to me so I
asked him why. He said the the beeswax was necessary because the worms
somehow derived moisture from it. Thats how it was explained to him from a
scientist. He said glycerin worked just as well but depended on what the
going rate for each was.
