This is a three part article in the first three issues of 2003 American Bee
Journal. It has many interesting facts, many which I did not already know.
Thanks for the reference. She also says:

"It is *impossible* to maintain selected stock when queens randomly mate
with many drones of unknown genetic origin. ... we are in the *infancy
stages* of bee breeding." [emphasis mine]
