It is interesting how traditions, folklore, etc. change over time, and/or
differ in different regions of the country, etc. I did some interviews with
my great aunt before she died a couple of years ago, and recorded some of
her childhood memories growing up in Middle Tennessee (Cheatham County)
after the turn of the century. She talked about remembering as a little girl
someone coming down the road yelling, "There a swarm coming!" and that they
all went out on the porch and started banging pans - to keep the swarm away!
