Subject: Re: [BEE-L] Fears for crops as shock figures from America
show scale of bee catast rophe

One quick question:
We are finding in our research on atrazine and other pesticides that 'safe'
levels measure and rely on short term exposure, so the data can be
misleading
...long term or consistent low level exposure studies do show toxicity to
animals, and is most problematic in fertility and proper fetal development.
Also, to my knowledge, there has been little or no research done on 'safe'
levels of combined pesticide/chemical exposures on honeybees, although
comparative studies on the combining of personal care and household products
to determine 'chemical burden' in humans indicates that it is the
combination of multiple products that causes spikes in toxicity, and ensuing
problems, as well as the duration of use (example of websites:
www.atrazinelovers.com, safecosmetics.org)
How do you see this translating into the realm of beekeeping?
