I am planning to open my (5) hives for the 1st time this year. This is not
my first winter - but - other than clearing the dead bees and seeing
whether they need feeding - What does a beekeeper look for?

I am in the Puget Sound and the weather has been mild- low 50's almost
every day - but it's been hitting the freezing point at night lately.

Are there signs of trouble to watch for?
Is it to early to look between brood boxes?

TFL.
