as for 
marking the mark does go away so if the mark is missing does not mean 
she was replaced, clipping on the other hand does not go away unless she 
is replaced.

Are you saying you do both and your certain the marking vanishes?  I have
had a few get rubbed,  but not seen one that I was sure the mark was
removed.  Always seems more likely the queen was replaced.
Of course the basis of the question remains the same.
