A question about fermented honey.
I acquired a couple of honey supers from the estate of a beekeeper.
What luck - I had just run out of equipment and the honey flow was still
on. Bad luck - there was a little honey left in the frames and by the
smell the very thin honey was fermented. I removed as much of the
fermented honey as I could. There was quite a bit. Yet when I put it
on the hive, some remained in the cells.
This was a very strong colony with about 120 pounds of honey in supers
on it already and bees hanging all over the outside and packed inside
the telescoping cover. I checked on them one day later and there were
no outward signs of a problem.
What is the thinking... is there a problem with putting the fermented
honey on the hive? To the bees? To the honey crop?
