if you have difficulty in bees drawing out comb above the qx, then put the
box with the unddrawn comb above the excluder then a feeder and give them a
gall of syrup. that should do the trick. i use commercial brood boxes and
they do me a treat. i even ended up with 11 brood combs of honey this year,
which gives me food to give the bees for the winter.
