I use staples also, but I use 9/16 inch staples
shot into the wood with a staple gun.
The staples are thin easy to remove and don't hurt
the wood too much.
I use about 5 or 6 on a side, stapling the slatted
rack to the bottom board as well as the slatted
rack to the brood chamber.
Those little staples work well, and I use them
on all sides and edges where two seperate parts
meet.
