I have upwards of 100 supers of drawn comb
after the bees have cleaned them following extraction
I make stacks 6 supers hi and on every 2nd super put a sheet of scrap paper
and some para moth crystals. Over this goes a clear plastic bag pulled down to
cover 6 boxes and tucked in under the bottom edges.
In a few weeks I will look over the stacks to double check them.
Last year I lost 2 combs because I didn't recheck them soon enough.
It would probably be a good idea to keep all the combs that are darkened from
having brood in them together and check these first as moths seem to prefer
brood combs.
Before you scrap any old brood combs think about using them in swarm traps.
I have heard stories of a product called Certan? A BT strain and would like
information on it's use and success- seems more benign than para crystals.
