A short while ago, as I recall, someone requested input on how bees from
a colony could be mass marked to determine where they might forage. At the
time, I could not recall.
I just ran across the publication I had in mind, as follows:
1991. Boylan-Pett, Walter L., Roger A. Hoopingarner, and Donald C.
Ramsdell. "A self-marking system to determine foraging populations of
honey bees ..." BEE SCIENCE. 1:199-202.
Those researchers used Day-Glo fluorescent pigment in automatic
dispensers to mark all incoming and outgoing foragers.
