No ostriches around here but we have a surfeit of turkeys that are rounded
up once a year. A local beekeeper (now deceased) of 80+ years declared to me
that a turkey feather was an ideal bee brush - "the bees don't mind at all".
However I prefer my bee brush - I carry a plastic tool carry case filled
with water and dip the brush between each frame - the carry case is more
visible and I can leave it on top of the hive instead of hunting for the bee
brush.
