One of our association members kept bees in an adapted garden shed in the
middle of a town (Weymouth). It worked but there were some problems,:
temperature control on hot days, seeing eggs and larvae in the dim light and
smoke dispersal spring to mind. You can end up smoking yourself rather than
the bees. Advantages are that you can use the cheapest timber. Bees tend to
fly towards the light and ignore the beekeeper, but the window must be
arranged so that they have an exit.
To prevent drifting the front of the shed must help the bes find the right
entrance, either by marking each entrance differently or by placing different
landmarks e.g. potted plants by the entrances.
