Besides the lead, even in good shape, you extractor will shed zinc and if
rusted out, iron. You may not object to these elements in your honey, but
your extractor will add these elements - which is why most modern
extractors are made from stainless steel. We and Roger Morse of Cornell
have data showing that old galvanized extractors do contribute these
contaminants to your honey.
