HELP: I checked my seven hives today, and 5 were as expected - brood
nest in upper deep. But 2 had no eggs or brood. All seemed to have
about equal honey stores left, and only one (with brood) was aggressive.
There was capped brood in most, but not in all of the 5.
Could it be that the queens just haven't started laying yet, or are
they gone? Should I wait, get new queens (if thats even possible this
time of year), or give up on these two? I live in zone 5B in central
Massachusetts. I saw the first pollen today (crocus probably, no skunk
cabbage yet), and the winter has been mild with little snow.
thanks
Gert Walter
