a couple questions from a "newbee"

I've noticed that many bees (1000 + or - ) are clumping on the landing pad
and some on the side of the hive. What's up with this behavior?

I put a super over my two deeps about three weeks ago and there is no drawn
comb in it and only a few bees.

Also is there anything I should be doing at this time to help the bees
along? I've not treated them with anything but mineral oil so far since I
got them in the spring. I have not given them sugar water in a long time.

All help is greatly appreciated and all you old time bee folk please be
patient with me I really love this bee thing and like to pick the brains of
the ones that have been there. : -)
