I've been dipping my supers for about 8 years now and am quite pleased that
there is no deterioration after that time. I use the receipe from an old
Speedy Bee. It's 50% gum rosin and 50% high melting paraffin. The only
catch is that you need to get the liquid mixture to about 300 degrees F.
This I do in a standard 55 gallon honey drum with two drum heaters, which
cost about $250 each. I found, contrary to the procedure, that only one
dipping is needed.
