From an old beekeeper I learned this trick to get rid of unwanted smells in
jars: Simply expose such jars to full sunlight for a day. I tested this and
could not believe my nose. All the smell was gone by the evening!
Whether this works with plastic containers too I don't know but I would
give it a try. Sunshine might be rare in your location but it's hard to
beat the price!
