For numbering hives I like the small metal ear tags sold by Nasco. They are
1 inch metal, available in red, yellow and white, and are numbered
sequentally from 1 to1000. The minimum order is 100. They cost $13.45 per
hundred and last forever. I just use a thumbtack to hold it on the front of
the hive just above the handhold.

Nasco order number C1N white, C2N red, C5671N Yellow 1-800-558-9595,
414-563-2446, fax 414-563-8296
