Many canadian beekeepers overwinter successfully 4 frames nucs. One good
method is to place two 4 frames nucs in a divided supers on top of hives
containing full size colonies wrapped in four packs. The nucs must be
really strong. I know beekeepers using this method in fairly cold areas of
the province of Alberta. I suggest that you contact commercial beekeepers
from southern Ontario. I can suggest Paul Montoux and Barrie Davis.
