Soufflet, noun masculine, Bellows (of a
forge or camera) so it is obviously a form of smoker. In 1951 IBRA, then
BRA, published a little dictionary of beekeeping terms in four languages,
English, French, German and Dutch and offered the following.
Smoker (E), Enfumoir, le (F), Rauchapparat, der (G), Beroker, mas.,
and Rookapparat, neut. (D)
If a member of IBRA should chance to read this perhaps he (she) could say if
this dictionary has been reprinted or is still available. Over the years I
have found it very useful.
