But, to misquote the surrealist philosopher Donald Rumsfeld, "You go [out to forage] with the army [of foragers] you have, not the army you might want or wish to have at a later time."
So, the warming climate means that my bees at 40 degrees north latitude can never expect to get any significant Maple pollen, as the Maples are now blooming well earlier than their traditional "Valentine's Day or later" date.
And forget about the hive gaining any measurable weight from maples. The bloom of an entire species is essentially lost to my bees.
