When discussing the price of a pharmaceutical or vaccine with dairy
producers, I was often asked "Is it worth it?" We would then add up the
value we saw of the benefits of the therapy and subtract the value of the
adverse effects of the therapy and the cost of applying the therapy. We
might do several such partial budgets using different assumptions. Risk
tolerance then often played a part in the final decision.
I have been working on some partial budgets for this vaccine and I would
welcome input as to how people might value the decreased incidence of AFB
clinical disease in their operations.
Let's assume new queens would be vaccinated prior to introduction to a hive
or nuc, what would you pay extra for each queen you bought?
I will keep any off-list replies confidential if someone wishes to share
but not publicly.
I am a veterinarian. I am a partner in Betterbee and Humble Abodes. We do
not have any formal relationship with Dalan.
Thank you,
Chris
