A bit more on the issue of "top" vs "bottom" supering...

The studies I posted used supers of drawn comb, for making extracted honey.

For the "special case" of comb supers (Ross Rounds, Hogg Cassettes, anything where the super needs to be drawn out) bottom supering is absolutely certain to be far superior, as the bees drawing out the foundation can, if nothing else, exploit the minor advantage of warmth rising from the broodnest, to help to warm up the foundation and wax.

A top-supered additional comb honey box is more likely to be ignored than drawn out, an error that does not become clear until too late for that spring's comb honey.

So, when you want to draw some comb, likely better to bottom super that super.
