Have you ever judged honey?
When you first open a jar, quickly smell the scent of the honey. The air in the jar will smell of the area it has come from and then that smell will be gone leaving only the smell of the honey.
As you are judging you give an explanation:.
This one smells of lemon so my guess is it came from a lemon grove.
This one smells of cow pee so this one came off a dairy farm.
We have a native tree kamahi, when freshly extracted smells like cat’s pee but this smell doesn’t translate into the honey.
Of course you can bee fooled if someone has reused an old pickle jar to put their honey in.
Paul get an unopened jar of honey, remove the lid close to your nose and take a quick sniff. I’ll bet it smells instantly of pigs and then it will be gone.
Everything in the environment is picked up by the bees.
