The array of variables represented by these factors seems to make understanding the adaptation mechanism overwhelming, if not impossible. Even more perplexing is that Varroa mites, incapable of little more than essential kairomone communication, face the same factors and seem to have become adequately adapted to their host. Biology has a beautifully mysterious vocabulary, and we don't understand it yet.
