The basic error in the model presented is the incorrect assumption of far too much wood around, above and below the "feral hive" that is the basis of the model. The flaw is fatal.
The thesis was defended purely on the thermodynamics. The factual/scientific implications of the "findings" for beekeeping are nil, as the clustering of bees is well-known to be a consistent instinct.
If clustering is "stress" on a bee, then so is foraging.
The thesis has not moved the ball down the field at all, it has only added fuel to the firestorm of misinformed critics, who say stupid things like "beekeeping is cruel" while they eat their "vegan" bee-pollinated veggies.
