On this windy Missouri day, my sumacs and buttonbushes are teeming with pollinators. Some are in full bloom, with others to follow in the coming days. The honey bees are all over the sumac blooms, while also working buttonbush. Bumbles and carpenters prefer buttonbush, but also work the sumac. Numerous other bees, flies, beetles and wasps are on both. I do not see the usual butterflies; maybe it's too windy.
The neonic-treated corn and Roundup-Ready soybeans down the hill look to be thriving as well despite a shortage of rain.
