I'm seeking info from anyone going to Apimondia 2023 in Santiago. I've
reached out to Juanse directly and he has provided some info already to
help us decide what to do after the conference down towards Patagonia.
I'm concerned that the venue is located on the outskirts of the city and no
hotels are nearby. Has the host done a good job of providing
transportation from remote lodging in the past? I'm concerned primarily
with the time involved if I needed public transport (I speak passable
spanish).
What is the atmosphere? I'm most interested in meeting other beekeepers,
especially in Chile, and I see they are trying to assemble tours of bee
yards. I will likely know absolutely no one personally, so I hope if any
of you see my name now and see me there you will introduce yourself and
allow me to tag along. Introversion goes a long way in the bee yard, but
doesn't get you far in a room full of beekeepers.
I am in my 9th year as a beekeeper with the past 2 trying to make a go of
it as a sideliner. I appreciate highly scientific presentations, but it's
not my overall desire when attending a conference. Are the sessions for a
variety of audiences outside the research field?
Thank you for your info,
