> But "the sun moves across the sky the wrong way" is an idea to be discarde
I was in Santiago, Chile in 1981, courtesy of the Peace Corps. One exercise they gave us was a list of things to buy and we were to wander around the city looking for stores that carried stuff on the list. I managed to get completely disoriented until I remembered that in winter the sun there is low in the sky to the north, and not in the south like I was used to. So if you are facing the winter sun in the southern hemi, it travels from right to left, whereas here it goes left to right.
