As per Australia's mite problem - I've spent 49 years sampling bees, and the only appropriate way of having even the smallest chance of success of stopping the incursion into NSW is rapid and total screening of hives - quarantine, screen every hive, sticky traps and a scorched earth approach.
As per all of us armchair experts - history tells us that the battle has already been lost.  Let's credit the Australians with being smart enough to make their own decisions, whether we agree with them or not.  If they want help, they will reach out.  If I were them, looking for the expert, I'd contact Medhat.
I assume that they are taking steps for 'living with the mite'.
Good luck to them.
Jerry
