I try to remember what we did when we had this issue. As far as I can recall, simply moving the hive back in the yard so the flying bees distribute to other hives or splitting the hive solved the problem.
Splitting by setting the individual brood boxes back simplified finding the offending queen in the smaller units after a nfew days, and the fact the flying bees had gone made that task easier also.
Of course what is understood in this thread is that weather and time of day should be such that the bees are flying freely, at the time or will with certainty the next day if this is done late in the day. Doing this in cool weather when the flying bees have not flown much won't work, and the bees that do fly will follow their hive across the yard.
