Here in the high desert, obviously humidities are very low and spring temperatures limit the amount of outside foraging and activity on feeders.  

Regardless, I have offered water to bee colonies in our backyard (actually roof to keep safe from bears) in various presentations.  They readily learn to forage and collect good amounts of water from a dish 10 feet away from the colonies.  But they do not take any noticeable amount of water from either entrance feeders or interior feeders.  They will take fairly dilute sugar solutions from either kind of feeder, but not water.
