I don’t type easily, so I’m pretty succinct. I think bee-l needs to be moderated to keep the tone and content tolerable and some of the contributors need to be slowed down, they talk too much. Or type too much.
I can’t stand to read much online, I’m mostly a skimmer. But I appreciate the archives if I need them and if I can get them to work for me.
There’s a certain entertainment value in listening in on beekeepers disagreeing with each other and I appreciate the depth of knowledge in this and other fields. I particularly like analysis of experimental design and interpretation of data.
Sometimes a person includes facts or comments about a field that I actually know something about and it makes me doubt their opinions on other topics. But I don’t mention it, because it’s off bee-keeping. And I think I’d get burned and I have thin skin.
Moderation is probably an annoying job, but if that is what keeps this group from becoming Bee Source, it’s needed. Every art form requires editing.
Yours, Megan Hughes in the Pacific Northwest
