I agree totally. Those projections are queen and bee killers even with experience beekeepers. I slid my hive tool along the bottom bar and clean them off. It’s messy but better than killing the queen.

I find that using a slatted rack on top of the bottom board usually discouraged burr comb on the bottoms of frames. They work well, but they are pricy and difficult to make so I don't use them on all my colonies.
