EFB is said to be a stress disease.  Ease the stress and it goes away.  I can attest to this in that I used to have hives at one spot and they would get a dose of EFB as the plants there only yielded nectar and no pollen.  Shift them away to a better pollen source and the EFB symptoms disappeared.
