As discussed here previously, the major factor that will affect the speed plastic foundation is drawn is the amount of wax on it. It is easy to observe how the wax coating is quickly drawn out when conditions are right. Double-dipped Acorn is drawn sooner, further, and faster than single-dipped or dry plastic.
After that wax is drawn out, the bees must provide their own wax and the speed of progress at that point depends on how much wax they can make and whether the conditions are otherwise suitable for comb drawing.
