Well, this thread is not going quite how I expected. Although I was a bit tongue in cheek, my serious question was meant to see if anyone can define the line such that some methods by which genes are modified are GMO and others are just 'natural'.
To my mind there is little difference except possibly where a completely foreign gene is spliced in. Of course that gene could not be entirely incompatible if the organism lives, but what do I know?
We see some natural hybrids that lack fitness.
I suppose this line must be defined somewhere because some people and even legislators seem to know where nature ends and 'GMO' starts.
