<><><>   You can always use a simple way of distilling the water.  Get a tub, a bucket, a sheet of clear plastic, and a baseball sized rock.   Fill the bucket half full of the unpalatable water.  Fix the empty bucket in the tub so that it remains stationary in the middle of the tub of water.  Fix the plastic loosely over the rim of the tub and place the rock in the middle of the plastic.   Water will evaporate from the tub of water, condense on the plastic, and then run down to the middle under the rock where it will drip into the empty bucket floating in the water - distilled water.   Just empty the bucket before it sinks into the tub of water and ruins your distillation attempt.
